Jackets: the volumetric trap
Six jacket rows, 540–1,240 g. A puffer can double a parcel by volume before the scale notices.
Jackets are the only category where a light shell can cost more to ship than a heavy coat. A 540 g shell that will not compress occupies the same box as a 1,240 g puffer, and the courier charges the box.
The sample separates shells from puffers for that reason. If you are building a winter haul, start with the puffer and add shells around it, not the other way round.
The rows
Jackets rows in the 2027 sample
Sorted by packed weight, because that is the number the freight line uses.
Before you add it to a parcel
Three jackets checks
Short and specific. Each one has saved a parcel at least once.
01Weight band
Jackets in this sample runs 540–1240 g. Add 120 g for packaging if the row only lists item weight.
02QC angle
Ask for the inside seam and the hem. Outside photos hide the two places that fail first.
03Coupon fit
Check whether the coupon discounts freight or goods. A shipping coupon does nothing for a single light item.
FAQ
Jackets questions
How many jackets rows are in the index?
6 rows, with packed weights from 540 g to 1240 g and a median of $58.60.
Are the jackets weights measured?
They are warehouse packed weights from the partner catalogue where available, and conservative estimates otherwise. The QC badge tells you whether a photo set exists.
